Slievemore Deserted Village, Achill Island, July 2018

While visiting cousins in Loughgeorge, Claregalway Ireland, my family and I ventured to Achill Island to witness the haunting remnants of a village dating back to 12 century AD. It was eerily beautiful to witness the village of our ancestors and imagine how life was in County Mayo centuries ago. I remember being moved by the peaceful silence, interrupted only by occasional sheep bleating in the misty fields among the Celtic crosses.
